Snapping Windows Side-by-Side in Windows: A Guide
Ever wished for a simpler way to arrange windows on your screen? Look no further than Snap, a handy feature in Windows that lets you effortlessly position two windows side-by-side.
Here's how to Snap windows using your mouse:
- Click and hold the title bar of the window you want to snap.
- Drag the window to the left or right edge of your screen until you see a visual guide. This indicates the snapped position.
- Release the mouse button. The window will resize to fill half the screen.
- Select the second window you want to snap alongside the first one.
- Drag and hold the title bar of the second window.
- Move it to the opposite side of the screen (left or right) until the snapping guide reappears.
- Release the mouse button. Both windows will be neatly arranged side-by-side.
Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts for snapping:
- Press and hold the Windows key (Win key).
- Press the right or left arrow key to move the active window to the corresponding half of the screen.
- Select the second window you want to snap.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 using the opposite arrow key (right if snapped left, left if snapped right).
Unsnapping Windows:
Once you're done with the side-by-side view, you can easily unsnap the windows:
- Click and drag the top of a snapped window towards the top of the screen to return it to its original size.
- Click an empty space on the title bar of a snapped window, then hold and shake the window. This minimizes all other windows.
- Use keyboard shortcuts:
- Win key + Up Arrow: Maximizes the window.
- Win key + Down Arrow: Minimizes the window.
Note:
- Ensure "Snap Windows" is enabled in your Windows settings (Settings > System > Multitasking).
- This feature works on Windows 7 and later versions.
With Snapping, managing multiple windows on your screen becomes a breeze!
